MESSINA HOF HOSTS 41ST ANNUAL HARVEST FESTIVAL

KUHLMAN CELLARS RELEASES INAUGURAL ESTATE WINES

On Sunday, June 24, Kuhlman Cellars hosted special small group tasting events for Vina Vita wine club members that afforded the opportunity to be among the first to try their three new 2017 estate wines. The white wines featured included their 2017 estate Roussanne which was stainless aged and crisp, and refreshing with honeysuckle, citrus, and apricot notes. Read More

 

LONGHORN CELLARS PREVIEW

Longhorn Cellars is located in Fredericksburg in a familiar location right off U.S. 290. The winery is owned by Michael and Deanna Dickey, who also own other businesses such as the Hye-Way Haus Bed and Breakfast in Hye, Texas. Even though this is a preview of the upcoming winery, they are having their soft opening shortly on June 21. The current plans for the winery are to be open to the public from Thursday through Sunday and have special appointments Monday through Wednesday. Read More

2018 TEXSOM INTERNATIONAL WINE AWARDS RESULTS – TEXAS WINERIES

The 2018 TEXSOM International Wine Awards results were released from the judging that was held February 12-14, 2018. There were over 3,200 entries representing 30 countries and 21 U.S. States, with the most diverse selection of wines in the history of the competition. The entries were judged by 63 internationally renowned tastemakers from six countries, including 20 Master Sommeliers, 18 Masters of Wine, and other category experts. The judges awarded 2,223 medals: 285 Gold medals (9% of total entries), 760 Silver medals (24%), and 1,178 Bronze medals (37%). Vintages spanned eight decades, with the oldest being 1957.  Read More

Messina Hof Winery & Resort has been celebrating their 40th Anniversary all year and for good reason. They were one of the first Texas wineries and after 40 years, they have grown into a winery now located in three areas of the state and possibly more coming. TWO WINERIES JOIN TEXAS HILL COUNTRY WINERIES!

The news this week is that Texas Hill Country Wineries has added two new wineries to its association making a total of 52 wineries! The two new wineries joining are 1851 Vineyards and Ron Yates. 1851 Vineyards is owned by John and Dabs Hollimon and is just south of Fredericksburg. The winemaker is John Rivenburgh.
