BEYOND WINE: EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES AT TEXAS HILL COUNTRY WINERIES

BEYOND WINE: EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES AT TEXAS HILL COUNTRY WINERIES

If you enjoy a good wine, you know a lot more goes into each glass than just the beverage alone. Every delicious glass of wine is the result of careful planning, thoughtful growing, selective fruit pairing and proper aging. When it comes to wineries and tastings, there is always more to learn.

Texas Hill Country Wineries offers more than 50 award-winning vineyards and wineries with a wide variety of events, where guests can learn more about the business, selection and tasting of fine wines. The non-profit organization also offers a few of its own unique events, giving members and guests a chance to take advantage of the combined wisdom from the region.

TAKE ADVANTAGE OF A LIBRARY PASS

At Becker Vineyards, the VIP “Wine Library” Cellar and Barrel Tasting is offered every Saturday at 1 p.m. The Reserve Wine Library was established in 1996, and it serves as the home of a single vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon program. At this event, you can gather around the mesquite table at the library doors and sample a portfolio of wines the Beckers have personally held back. The event includes a tour of the production, as well as tank and barrel tasting, and wine and cheese pairings. Get your library pass, here.

EXPLORE THE HISTORY OF THE REGION

If you enjoy a historical perspective, check out the Grows Together, Goes Together Series at Flat Creek Estate. This series, which happens on selected Sundays throughout the year, features one grape varietal while taking you on a time travel adventure through culinary history. You’ll get a chance to explore the origins of popular grape varietals and sample culinary delights from the Texas Hill Country. Gaining new knowledge of the region, you’ll come away with a new appreciation for wholesome eating and fine wines. The series will include events on Sunday, May 6, 2018, and Sunday, June 10, 2018. SAMPLE STRAIGHT FROM THE BARREL

If you’re interested in a new experience, William Chris Vineyards is offering guests the opportunity to discover the secrets to their handcrafted wines, made completely in Texas. A wine educator will lead the group in a barrel tasting and then proceed to give a tour of the production facilities. This event will give wine enthusiasts educational insight into what makes a Texas Hill Country wine, and the group sizes will be limited to six guests at a time for an exclusive experience. This event is by appointment on Saturdays, at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Reserve your seat.
