Pedernales Falls State Park

Located near Johnson City, Pedernales Falls is a 5,212-acre park that is perfect for camping, hiking and horseback riding. Of course, it also offers all the water fun you could ask for as long as you are away from the actual falls area. And the falls themselves? Nature’s beauty at its best. You can also enhance your fun by investing in guided hikes and camping experiences.

Wimberley Attractions

Wimberley, Texas, offers a number of exciting attractions perfect for couples or families. You can take advantage of Blue Hole Regional Park where you’ll find a wooded swimming area complete with rope swings. The entire Hill Country is known for its outstanding wineries, and the eastern half has more than its share. Hawks Shadow, Bell Springs and Solaro Estate Winery are all located there and offer you fine wines, relaxation and beautiful scenery.

Westcave Cellars Winery and Vineyard

If you love the French style of wine, give Westcave Cellars Winery and Vineyard a chance to impress you. This winery produces several French style wines, mostly from Texas-grown grapes on the property. You do have to make an appointment for a weekday wine tasting here, as it’s only open normally on weekends, but it’s worth a visit either way.


Hawks Shadow Winery

Located in Dripping Springs, this winery prides itself with offering wines that are distinctly Texan. Visitors are greeted by family members and treated to an unusual variety of wines, including European style reds and small production wines.

Bell Springs Winery

Also located in Dripping Springs, Bell Springs Winery is just 25 minutes from Austin. No reservation is needed to enjoy their standard tasting of six wines. They also offer a seated tasting that comes with wines paired with small bites. In addition, they provide fabulous meals and live music on the weekends.

Solaro Estate Winery

The Solaro Estate Winery is the result of over a hundred years of family devotion to creating fabulous wines. This Texas land is a self-sufficient farm that produces delightful, complex vintages. You’ll be amazed by the landscape as well.

The Eastern Hill Country is also home to the following wineries: Driftwood Estate, Duchman Family Winery, and Wimberley Valley Winery.


You can visit the Texas Hill Country for a weekend or spend a week or two there. It offers so much to see and do for singles, couples and families.
